Sacked Punjab Police DSP Balwinder Singh Sekhon filed his nomination papers as an independent candidate against Cabinet Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu. He has an old dispute with a cabinet minister. Earlier, two of his close aides Tarun Jain Bawa and Gurpreet Singh Gogi had also filed their nominations against the cabinet minister. Balwinder Sekhon has also filed his nomination papers against Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Navjot Singh Sidhu from Amritsar East.

He said a rape case has been registered against Simarjit Singh Bains and he is also being saved by cabinet minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu. Balwinder Sekhon also sits on a dharna with the rape victim outside the police commissioner's office.

Balwinder Sekhon who was dissimited five months ago

DSP Balwinder Singh Sekhon, posted in the municipal corporation, was sacked in October. It is alleged that Sekhon did not follow the limitations while on duty and kept writing against the government on social media. Due to these allegations, Sekhon had been suspended from the job for a long time. During the course of investigation, he had also moved the Punjab and Haryana High Court and his petition is still being heard, but in the meantime, the government issued orders for his dismissal.

The letter, issued against Sekhon, said he had made false comments on the social media platform from September 13, 2019 to November 30, 2019. Not only this, from November 2019 to December 2019, the first commando battalion was absent from duty. It is also alleged that while joining the job, the ditch has also been broken by Saugandh. Sekhon was given a chance by the government to speak and prove the allegations wrong, but he could not do so. So the government dismissed him from the job.
